There was a very pretty run into Cuenca.
Cuenca is renowned for its hanging ...
El Cuidad Encantada was an area about 10 miles fom Cuenca that contained naturally formed limestone monuments.
The road north led into the Serrania de Cuenca followed by Alto Tajo. Over about 60 miles it was a strangely lonely drive. There were virtually no other cars and small unpopulated villages floated by.
I was getting a little low on fuel and had assumed that there was bound to be a filling station en route. But alas nothing appeared. What do people do?
The road continued winding round sheer rock faces for mile after mile, much of it disconcertingly rough and unmetalled.
The scenery changed very gradually to arable with a patchwork of wheat and rough pasture. The warm wetter climate was showing its virtues. No longer the seering temperatures a mere 32°C being about the norm here.
On the horizon came into sight Molina de Aragon with a spectacular castle dominating the town.
It also had a filling station!
Beyond Molina the mixed farming quickly changed to pure arable with mile upon mile of wheat fields with no apparent boundaries or fences.
Arrived at C. Lago Park at Nuevalos where I enjoyed a late afternoon swim and sunbathe.
144 miles run.
